Answer 1. In a word Yes. I use the best products available to refinishers and have the knowledge and experience required to properly apply them. All work is completed by me, not a employee who just finished training. There are a few great refinishing companies around, however My skill, dedication and attention to detail makes ADX Refinishing just a shade better. Top of Page

Answer 2: Absolutely No. Using a DIY ( do it yourself kit for a bathtub is tantamount to painting your house with lead based paint. Very Old and unsafe. Our reglazing process consists of new-age technologically advanced materials and differs from any other. They are of far greater quality than any "Do-it-yourself" kit that would be found at a retail store. For example , these kits utilize an Epoxy which, as it's first noticeable weakness, is not color fast (in other words, it will fade or yellow after a short period of time). Epoxies are used not for durability but for their adhering capabilities as it would be applied directly to the raw surface of the tub. Epoxies are not nearly as resilient or durable and often even fall short when it comes to their strong point of adhering - they soon begin to peel. Most of the same issues are involved for those who use acid-etching techniques. The Acrylic doesn't yellow as rapidly and since the surface is etched it will take longer to peel but the end result is the same. ADX Refinishing uses a synthetic material which offers excellent durability, flexibility, resilience and is colorfast. Above all of this it's adhered with a technologically advanced molecular bonding material which actually fuses the glaze to the surface and as it cures thus giving it the ultimate of all qualities. It's for these reasons that I can proudly offer a 5 year guarantee on our services. Notice: There is an additional fee to remove any previously applied material. This material must be removed. Answer 3: Refinishing technology provides a long lasting finished surface. You should expect 15-20 years worth of service.     Top of Page

Answer 4: Yes No messy tear out. No Plumbing Removal. We can do them in either a solid color of your choice or one of our CORION granite like finishes. Most customers realize a savings of 50 to 70%! Top of Page

Answer 5: Bathtubs in this price range are generally not of the same quality as their older counterparts. When new bathtubs are manufactured they are produced on an assembly line. For this reason, it is possible to reduce manufacturing costs. Also, the equipment needed is always in a fixed location. Manufacturing a new porcelain tub, involves the use of a kiln where temperatures exceed 1500 degrees F. This process cannot be done in home. To reglaze a bathtub, in the home, involves moving the reglazing equipment to the location of the installed bathtub. To deliver a high quality reglazing job, involves the utilization of much equipment, and high quality materials. Even at $275 to $399 per bathtub, you save about 75% of replacement cost. Consider the plumbing, the tub wall enclosure, the flooring, also the logistics of removing the bathtub from the house, the door jams may have to be removed, and even the walls in some cases.   Top of Page

Answer 6: Yes! Most of the time completely, The grout lines are sealed against moisture and the whole system becomes almost maintenance free.   Top of Page

Answer 9: Most Refinishers do install new drains and overflow caps. However old plumbing can be rusted and brittle so in some cases it maybe best to have a plumber take a look first.   Top of Page

Answer 10: If you have attempted to clean the tub with normal household cleaners and the tub is still dull of dirty in appearance, there is probably nothing you can do to restore the shine. The original finish (glaze) has become worn and leaving the pores exposed to absorb the dirt and chemical stains. Unfortunately, the more one scrubs, the worse the situation becomes. A new finish on the tub is the answer.   Top of Page

Answer 11: No, it's not actually porcelain. It's a synthetic, They are formulated from a tough, heat resistant resin lead free, coating which dries to hard tile like surface that is acid and stain resistant, durable and easy to clean. The materials are 100% safe and non-toxic when dry. The product allows for expansion and contraction which occurs when areas are subjected to extremes of hot and cold water. This flexibility means the product maintains its strength over time. Top of Page

Answer 12: No, refinishing is great for a variety of surfaces including fiberglass shower stalls, kitchen Formica counter tops and other laminates, ceramic tile, cultured marble vanity tops, and acrylic tubs. Top of Page

Answer 13: Small chips and cracks can usually be repaired during the preparation stage of the refinishing process. Often if it is just a single chip, for instance, I can fill and refinish just the damaged area. With careful color matching, the repaired chip will be practically invisible. Top of Page

Answer 14: NO. We can usually create all custom colors.   Top of Page

Answer 15: Usually about 4 to 6 hours depending on how much work it needs. In extreme conditions sometimes it is necessary to to clean the tub, repair the surface defects, Spray a heavy mil thickness of our Spray fill primer and let dry overnight. The next day we repair what the spray did not fill and finally reglaze the bathtub. This is by far the best way to restore a seriously worn out tub.   Top of Page

Answer 16: Most likely you have a surface bonding problem or possibly a maintenance issue. The company that refinished your tub most likely used either inexpensive, inferior materials, and/or poorly trained personnel. ADX only uses the finest materials and time tested application techniques and I am a expert at turning a bad refinish job into a great one. Top of Page

Answer 18: We offer 4-10 and24 hour dry times. The 4 hour is reserved for single tub homes and Hotels who do not wish to loose revenue.   Top of Page

Answer 19: Newly refinished tubs/counters/floors give off a solvent type odor for a short time. I do encourage anyone with reactions to paint/solvent odors to remain out of the refinishing area for a minimum of 12 hrs. Top of Page

Answer 20: No, your new finish is resistant to hair coloring chemicals. Top of Page

Answer 21: You can find one at an antique store or an old farm house just bring it to us or call us and we will keep an eye out for one. Top of Page
